My life has come in phases, like the moon,
it waxes and it wanes.

Kathleen’s work can best be described as expressive movement. Inspired by the ebbs and flows in nature; colors, clouds, water, textures, skies, trees, florals and landscapes. Her work ranges from naturally recognizable to intuitive abstractions. Her relationship with the woodlands, waterways, skies, mountains and oceans defines her work and love for painting.

Her painting marks are loose and intentional, guiding you deeper to release or go inward to discover a feeling. Her inspirations comes from the land, water and the sky. A painting could be the essence of tranquility or in the throws of a storm. She creates a loyal connection to her art and invites you into that relationship. Explore her work, become a collector and start a conversation that is intriguing, informative and always changing. One life, over in a blink.

Kathleen’s abstract paintings create art by reflecting the essence of the artist’s style. Carefully choosing and mixing colors, making marks or gestures, focusing on the balance of composing and lifting a painting into being. Her art is influenced by Abstract Expressionism movement. There is a freedom to create an action and tell a story that holds you deeply. It is in our stories that we exist, live and learn about ourselves and others.

Phases

I sense a painting even before it arrives. For me, a work of art begins with a feeling, a soft whisper into a memory. The beginning of a painting is like wandering around in a dream. I see flashes of the dream, some I can harness and others I return to later in the process.

As I create, it is just me and the art, each work is a personal and intuitive relationship. This relationship will always have ups and downs. The process shapes my decisions and the journey begins.

Artist Statement
Text in a spiral on a black background reads: "I love the naturalness and death. There are always phases of being human at times in my life and death, then the sense of movement is always present in my work."
